Heads Up Productions and University of Akron graduate India Burton announce the launch of a new theatre company, Ma’Sue Productions. Burton, a long-time member of Heads Up, will serve as the company’s artistic director.
While working with Heads Up, Burton directed The Laramie Project and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, which was touted as “absolutely, by far, the best thing I have ever seen in my 10 years at UA,” by Dr. Boisseau of the University’s History Department.
Ma’Sue was formed to give voice to urban culture and to provide opportunities for actors of color.
