Benjamin Rexroad

Benjamin Rexroad is an emerging leader in the arts scene of Northeast Ohio.  He has served as managing artistic director of Heads Up Productions since it’s inception in 2009.   Under his leadership, Heads Up has grown from a theatre company to a multimedia arts organization that strives to bring together the audiences and the artists within the community.  Under the mentorship of Jim Slowiak of New World Performance Lab, Benjamin has trained with theatrical legends Ed Stern, Marshall Mason, John O’Neal and Anne Bogart.  It was his month-long intensive with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company that has formed the foundation for Heads Up Productions.  Dedicated to theatrical research, he has presented two papers at conferences, including a paper on “Stanislavski in Rehearsal” that won an award for Best Presentation.  For 2 years, he has been nominated for An Arts Alive Award in the Rising Young Star/Leadership category.  He has been a finalist for the Ben Auburn Cultural Critiicism Award and the COSE Young Arts Entreprenuer Award.


TJ Jozsa
Artistic Director/Lead Actor

A co-founder of Heads Up Productions, TJ Jozsa serves as the company’s artistic director and lead actor.  With a passion for education, TJ is responsible for designing Heads Up’s workshop curriculum.  Drawing on a work ethic derived from his path to Eagle Scout, he leads the company’s weekly training sessions– ensuring the growth of the ensemble and individual actors.  He has filmed independent shorts with the underground comic duo Mike and Ike, film critics featured on http://www.horror-extreme.com.  Graduating, from the University of Mount Union Summa Cum Laude, TJ earned degrees in Political Science and Pre-Law, a perfect combination for Heads Up’s socially conscious mission.


Amy Spencer
Company Member/Multimedia Producer
Amy Spencer graduated from Ohio University in 2007 with a BFA in Theater Performance and a BSC in Interactive Multimedia.  After teaching English in Japan for two years, Amy returned to the United States to pursue a career in the arts.  Since her homecoming, she has helped produced a feature-length film with Afflicted Pictures and worked on a science-fiction television show through Syzygy Productions.  A talented graphic designer, she serves as the art editor for Super Peers, an independently published comic book.  Aside from her time onstage and in the rehearsal hall, Amy produces and hosts the successful Heads Up Arts Radio– an internet radio show about art in the Northeast Ohio area.  She also films, directs and produces the Heads Up Productions video blogs.

India Burton
Resident Playwright
India Burton is a founding member of Heads Up Productions.  For the company, she has performed in Dog Sees God, an adaptation of A Christmas Carol and was the leading role in A Woman Called Truth.  She directed the critically acclaimed For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide when the Rainbow is Enuf and The Laramie Project.  India wrote 1,000 Hills, a Heads Up world premiere.  India is a theatre student with a concentration in performance at the University of Akron, where she has starred in several performances.  Her favorite roles include:  Kate (Taming of the Shrew), Masha (Three Sisters), and Sister Hurbert (Nunsense!)  India graduated from UA in May 2011.  She hopes to move to Atlanta to follow her dreams.  “The sky is the limit!!!”

Kimberly Woodworth
Company Member
Kim graduated in 2008 from the University of Akron with a BA in Theatre Arts.  She has worked with a variety of theatre companies including the Ohio Shakespeare Festival, KSU’s African Community Theatre, the Garfield Players and Solon Center for the Arts.  Her favorite roles include: Agnes (A Dream Play), Lusia (A Shayna Maidel) Jackie (The Hot L Baltimore), Gollum (The Hobbit) and Queen Gertrude in OSF’s Hamlet: The Musical! A Woman Called Truth is Kim’s second production with Heads Up.  She was last seen in the company’s staged reading of 1,000 Hills by India Burton.  Kim is always searching for new experiences within theatre and life that will heighten the awareness of how we view the world and each other.  She looks forward to her next great adventure.
